It's Official: The Family Is Getting Bigger!

Lilypie Maternity tickers

Just confirmed what we thought was true. I thought I would have some fun with this one and add in a top ten list of questions and comments we get asked having a large family (aka more than 2 children). It can get hilarious sometimes when you can make someone blush from their un-thought out questions. These are all questions we've been asked by friends, family and mostly perfect strangers bold enough to ask.

1. Q: So, are you planning on having more? A: We're just working on this baby for now, the Lord holds the future on that question.

2. Q: Haven't you figured out what causes that? A: Yes, and we like it, thanks for asking.border="0"

3. Q: What are you? (fill in your own religion). A: No, we're not. (Sorry we don't fit in any category of religious molds).

4. Q: Don't you own a television? A: Yes we do, but don't watch it very often, why do you ask?

5. Q: Haven't you heard of birth control? A: Yes, that's for people who don't want any children. We just think children are wonderful blessings and love each one the Lord gives us.

6. Q: How do you afford it? You must be on welfare or rich. A: No, we don't take government assistance, only my husband works, and we just budget differently than others do. Our family loves Frank Gilbreth's Book Cheaper By The Dozen and his line when asked why he had so many kids "They come cheaper by the dozen, you know"  Our Philosophy on Children We also think of them as a blessing and a heritage
Psalms 127:3-5 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

7. Q: Don't you think you're getting a little too old? It's dangerous you know. A: Sarah laughed when she was told at 90 years old she was having a child. She even named her child laughter(Isaac). Elisabeth finally conceived in her old age and bore John the Baptist. The Bible says it was a reproach to women to not bare children. Society today says it is a reproach to have them. I will trust in what the Bible says over what mob mentality says any time.
When told it is dangerous, I looked up the actual statistics and they tell something more than what you may think. Over the past two decades the number of women over the age of 40 has more than tripled. The statistical data shows a contradiction to what was expected. The fear of major pregnancy complications and birth defects like Downs Syndrome just have not appeared like projected. The only complications were the ability to get pregnant, which decreases with age, naturally.
I personally know of 6 women over age 40 that have had 2,3, and even 4 children with no major
complications and no Downs Syndrome. The statistics only include women who give birth in hospitals or birthing centers. Midwives all over the country are delivering perfectly healthy babies to thousands of women over 40 every day, unfortunately these statistics will never be released by lame stream media outlets. Here is one article about home birth vs. hospital birth Home Birth With Midwife a Safe as Hospital.

8. Q: So how many children do you have? A: Eight so far. Here's the response we get when we tell them 8. Response #1 :Eight kids?!!> Better you than me. Response #2 Wow what a blessing I was from a large family. Response#3 What are you doing trying to compete with the Duggars? Response #4 How do you do it, I can't handle the ____ I have.

9. Q: How do you do it? You must be super organized. A: I don't know, the Lord helps along the way and as far as organized, we're working on it! Each child brings more organization skills. I just joined Lots of Kids for more ideas. I am always looking, so any helpful ideas(other than birth control or sterilization) are appreciated.

10. Q: Are they all yours? From the same marriage? A: Yes, every one and we love them all, couldn't think of any we would want to get rid of or wish we never had. Most people say to us they regret they didn't have more.
My husband and I have been married 23 years now to each other and I have given birth to every one of them by the same wonderful, loving husband.

While we don't give our children all the latest fashions, gadgets, games, toys and really cool vacation escapes, we do try to provide them with a stable, loving home and bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We build creative fun and adventure that doesn't break the pocketbook. Camping is one of our favorite family vacations.
So, while some call us crazy, fanatics, uncaring of the earth's resources, and unthoughtful, we know that what world thinks will be the opposite of what the Bible says. We take the Bible at it's word and what God says in it to guide our lives. We will stand in judgement before Him some day and are going to have to give account for what we have done with our lives here on earth  and not to those who are here on earth.
Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
