What's Really Going On In Japan?

As we just obtained our internet back this week I can write again and as everyone has thoughts of what is going on in Japan and the major "news" media spouting everything imaginable about it I did some investigating.
First though, our family's hearts and prayers are with all the Japanese people and our US based soldiers based there in Japan. It is probably a horrific ordeal to be facing an earthquake, tsunami and possible nuclear meltdown in less than one week.
I have a relative who works in a US based nuclear power plant and figured he ought to know. So, I asked and he sent a couple of links for me that filters out the hype and spreads the truth of the situation. It is the Nuclear Energy Institute found here http://nei.cachefly.net/newsandevents/information-on-the-japanese-earthquake-and-reactors-in-that-region/ I also found from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission a letter written to US personnel based in Japan here http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/news/2011/11-050.pdf

This is an image of the type of reactor in Japan thanks to NEI
Here is a list updated today on NEI's most frequently asked questions about Japan and the power plant:

Finally here is a link on understanding radiation, it's types and anything else you ever wanted to know about radiation http://www.radiationanswers.org/. If you want to know up to the minute status answers on radiation counts in the US by people who have geiger counters and have volunteered to hook them up to a computer software system and data cable for up to the minute counts of the levels of total radiation levels,
 radiation network has that.

I hope it helps for those who were wondering!
